Session Abstract: Power BI Query Editor (AKA Power Query / Get & Transform in Excel) is a magnificent tool for self-service ETL. While it is easy to perform basic data cleansing with its user interface, there are common data patterns that are almost impossible to transform - Well, at least until now. Join this session to learn the almost secret sequence of transformation steps in the UI to easily resolve the most common data preparation challenges. As a former Senior Program Manager on the Microsoft Excel Product team, Gil led the design and integration of Power Query as the next-generation Get-Data technology in Excel 2016, and became an extreme M practitioner (M=Power Query formula language).

Gil Raviv is a Group Manager at Avanade, a Microsoft MVP and a Power BI blogger at DataChant.com. As a former Senior Program Manager on the Microsoft Excel Product team, he led the design and integration of Power Query in Excel 2016. Gil is a highly skilled Software Development Manager with 17 years of experience in R&D and product management. He has four US patents in the domains of social networks, cyber security, and web. He also held a variety of innovative roles in the Israeli Cyber Security industry, where he was harnessing the power of data analytics and big data to deliver new security solutions.
